The original Nintendo DS has been replaced with three new models. The three Pink Nintendo DS consoles are the Pink DS Lite, Pink DSi and Pink DSi XL (it’s actually burgundy but that’s almost pink). So what’s the difference?  We’ll start with size but that isn’t the only difference so read carefully!

There is an older obsolete version of the Nintendo DS but most people now say Pink DS when they actually mean the Pink DSi.  It can cause a little confusion if you’re familiar with the original Nintendo DS but for most people now the Pink Nintendo DS and the Pink DSi are just different names for the same Nintendo console.

Think of them as Small (Nintendo DS Lite), Regular (Nintendo DSi) and Large (Nintendo DSi XL).

The Pink DS Lite is the smallest at 133 mm wide, with 3″ screens.

The Pink DSi is next at 137 mm wide, with 3.25″ screens.

By far the biggest biggest is the more grown up DSi XL at 161 mm wide with 4.2″ screens.

The Nintendo DS is a brilliant gaming system but the technical detail can be a little confusing so we really hope you have found this PINK DS information clear and useful.  Many people ask -

Should I upgrade from the DS or DS Lite to the DSi or DS XL?

That depends on what you want to do and whether you have access to a wireless Internet connection. All the online features depend on your own wireless Internet connection so if you don’t have one or, you think you won’t use those functions, then you may not want to upgrade.

You need to decide if you will use the cameras, sound and Internet functions or if you just want to play games. but, the Pink DS and DS XL also have the dual cameras, sound studio and extra software – and of course bigger screens and more games and applications.  They are all brilliant so don’t let the Pink DS and DSi XL put you off your old Nintendo DS or the Pink Nintendo DS Lite.
